The Force of Fear

on August 20, 2014

Fear is a powerful force. It pulls you down into a hole when you should be up standing on the firm ground. It sends you racing around in circles when you should be resting, at peace. The things I usually fear are things that pose no real threat to my life: disapproval, rejection, discomfort, failure. If the very worst thing that I can imagine happens to me, won’t I still be securely in the grip of God’s love? Isn’t that enough? Isn’t that more than enough?

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
