Hide-the-Word Wednesday: The Eye of the Beholder

on October 9, 2013

I have to say, there’s nothing like a fresh application of lipstick to change my outlook on life.  And a good hair day is, in fact, a good day to me.  I believe it also blesses my husband when I pay attention to my appearance. But there is more to true beauty than lipstick and the perfect coif.

Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

This is short, sweet and very powerful, Susan. Sometimes the simplest of statements leaves us with the time to really look at ourselves in the mirror. I’m looking and see that I need to give as much attention to my outward appearance as I do to my heart. Thanks for that very profound and impacting message today, my friend!

  3. This is definitely something I am trying to teach my daughters. So hard to do in the world we live in.
